Plus 50 Program

Welcome to the Plus 50 information site of Southwestern Community College.  In the coming weeks there will be lots of additional information added to these pages.

Plus 50 refers to those persons who are becoming a larger portion of American society.  Every day, over 10,000 persons turn 50 years old.  There are over 78 million people in the USA who were born between 1946 and 1964 and over the next 25 years, the elderly population will increase by 80% due to aging “baby boomers.”   Southwestern Community College is exploring what it means to offer educational opportunities in this new environment.
