Its not quite New Years yet, but when that comes around… College reopens on Jan. 3… We really only have one day left (Monday) that we wouldn’t normally have off. I guess its time to make the most of it!
Breaks in Western North Carolina are fun, because there is so much stuff to do. I went over to Maggie Valley and went Skiing at Cataloochie (honestly, no idea how to spell it, and I know for sure that is the wrong way).
Then, I went out and test drove some cars… Yeah, you can do this anywhere, not just in the mountains, but we sure do have some nice dealerships, especially in Asheville NC. Asheville has tons of Name Brand dealerships plus a bunch of regular old dealerships.
On New Years, I’m going to go see an old Mountain Tradition (Southwestern Community College served me well) and watch the possum drop! Yeah, basically they catch a possum and drop it instead of a ball. No, its not redneck. Its Tradition 
. (Its extremely redneck). But, where’s the fun in watching a ball drop when you can watch a screaming possum getting lowered in a cage!? Next year, I’m going to try to get my extended family to come watch. Its something that WNC has done… and they shouldn’t have to miss out on it.
