2018-03-15: Community Organization Awards

Every day is a great day to be a member of the Sylva Rotary Club, but Thursday was even more special. We were able to give out $14,800 due to our fundraising efforts to 17 different local efforts that are doing amazing work in our community and the world. They included: Haiti Ambulance, Rise Against Hunger, Panama Building Project, Community Table, Mountain Projects, Children’s Hope AllianceHabitat for Humanity, Sponsor Venture Crew, Friends of Scouting, I Write My Story Inc., Pathways for the Future, Life Challenge, Awake, Webster Enterprises, Blue Ridge Dental Clinic, Full Spectrum Farms, REACH Macon County for work in Jackson County. Thank you to these groups for all they do!

Enjoyed hearing Lance Elzie talk today about the Bike Fixation Station the Jackson County, North Carolina, Recreation and Parks and Rotary Club of Sylva will be putting in on the wonderful Greenway we have in Jackson County on April 7th. What a great way to start our 2018 with a super quarterly club assembly. Thanks to our guest and all who joined us! Nick passed the Rotary Brick on to Lyn. Michele racked up another 50/50 win, great fundraising presentation by John and appreciate President Margaret’s updates! We also had a chance to remember a great Rotarian Dr. Harold McGuire and say thanks for all his contributions in our community. He will be missed. Have a great week.
