2012-11-01: Dr. Chris Cooper – Election 2012

Dr. Chris Cooper, Department Head of the WCU Political Science and Public Affairs Program, was the featured speaker at a recent meeting of the Sylva Rotary Club.  Cooper addressed state and national trends that would likely affect outcomes in the November elections.  These trends included registered party affiliation and past election results, among others.  Pictured with Cooper (top, right) is Sylva Rotary Club President, Lyn Lazar.

Maris Ridenhour was recently selected by the Sylva Rotary Club as it’s Student of the Month.  A student leader at Smoky Mountain High School, Ridenhour is the president of the student council, vice president of the SMHS Chapter of the National Honor Society, Captain of the varsity women’s volleyball and basketball teams, and secretary of the Interact Service Club.  Additionally, she has been named to the all-conference teams in volleyball, basketball and track.  Ridenhour is the daughter of Eric Ridenhour and Shannon Berrey.  Pictured (bottom) from left are Ridenhour and Sylva Rotary Club member, Larry Hinton.
