2010-08-19: Ken Flynt – State of the Economy

The program was Ken Flynt, Associate Dean for the College of Business at Western Carolina University.  Ken is an alumnus of WCU, having received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, graduating magna cum laude in 1971.  He also earned a Master of Economics Degree from North Carolina State University in 1972, and did post graduate work at MIT. During most of his 37-year career Ken was a bank entrepreneur.  He was a CEO or founder of three commercial banks and two mortgage banks.  Ken also served a four-year term as Chief Economic Advisor to Governor James B. Hunt, Jr.  He currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Board of Virginia-based River Bancorp, Inc., and the Board of 1st Medallion Mortgage Corporation in Greensboro. He and wife, Peggy, have three sons and four grandchildren.  Ken has long been active in the United Methodist Church and in civic affairs.  He is currently a board member of the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, is a 25-year Rotarian, and a four time Paul Harris Fellow.
