August 28th, 2014 by Scott Baker

Alison Morrison-Shetlar, left, and Kay Wheeler, right, were the featured speakers at a recent lunchtime meeting of the Sylva Rotary Club. Alison Morrison-Shetlar is provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Western Carolina University. Kay Wheeler is a registered nurse and holistic nurse practitioner. Both focus on community health and have a passion for education. Pictured with Rotary President Ron Rhodes.

LIFE@WesternCarolina is a lifelong education program specifically designed to provide learning opportunities to adults age 50 and over. A wide range of topics will be covered during the interactive twelve weekly sessions and there are many distinguished speakers who will be collaborating with the LIFE program.

Morrison-Shetlar and Wheeler encouraged citizens to learn more about LIFE@WesternCarolina and share the education program with people in the community that would benefit. The program is very much “for the community, by the community.”

Rotary Club of Sylva recently recognized Reg Moody, Sr for fifty years of service in the club on August 28th. Pictured with Club President Ron Rhodes.
