Longtime Smoky Mountain High School teacher and Show Choir Director, Linda Haggard, presented Balliot and Couch and spoke to their many activities and accomplishments. Sandy Frazier (formerly with Sylva Rotary Club and now with Franklin Day Break), spoke to us about the Project Panama 2014. Up to 24 participants (12 students and 12 adults) will travel to Panama April 10 – 20 to provide medical services and other humanitarian assistance. The cost will be approximately $1700 each.

Club members, Larry Hinton and Jennifer Dirkes, spoke with us about the Rotary Foundation. Donations to the Rotary Foundation go to support our six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development. Charity Navigator rates the Rotary Foundation with four stars, its highest rating for charitable organizations. Everyone was encouraged to set up regular quarterly payments to the foundation.
