The program was Carolyne Moses (pictured on right) with the American Cancer Society’s Community Health Advisor program, was the featured speaker at a recent meeting of the Sylva Rotary Club. Jackson County has a lower-than-average rate of early cancer screenings and a corresponding higher-than-average rate of cancer when compared to other areas of the country, Moses said. The American Cancer Society is actively recruiting volunteers to serve as Community Health Advisors in the fight against cancer.
