2013-06-13: Glenda Hensley – WCU Academic Success Program

June 13th, 2013 by Scott Baker

The program was Glenda Hensley and Katie Elders, leaders in the Academic Success Program at WCU.  The ASP program is aimed at helping freshman students who have conditional admittance at WCU to succeed both academically and socially.  A key component of ASP is positive civic engagement through service to the community.  Towards that end, ASP will host a “Day of Service” on Saturday, July 20th at the Bridge Park of Sylva.  The all-day festival will feature children’s games, crafts, storytelling, food and local musicians in the morning.  The evening will bring more live music and food, with all proceeds benefitting the Community Table of Jackson County, the Communities in Schools program, and the Jackson Neighbors in Need program.  Pictured from left are Elders, Hensley and Sylva Rotary Club President, Lyn Lazar.

Pam Gaston (center) was inducted into our Club.  Mickie Kaye provided the official induction address, while sponsor and Club President, Lyn Lazar (right) looks on.
