2013-05-16: Dr. Michael Murray – Jackson County Schools

May 16th, 2013 by Scott Baker

The program was Superintendent of Jackson County Public Schools, Michael Murray (left).  Murray spoke of the increased focus on student safety that’s been necessary in the wake of school violence in Connecticut and elsewhere.  With regard to the quality of local schools, Murray said, “We’re doing a good job, but we could do a better job.”  Collaborative partnerships JCPS has with WCU, SCC and other community organizations have immense potential and “there’s no reason why Jackson County cannot be the best school system in the entire state of NC,” he said.  Pictured with Murray is Sylva Rotary Club President, Lyn Lazar.
