2019-05-02: 4-Way Test Essay Contest Winners

May 2nd, 2019 by Scott Baker

We recognized our student winners from the Four-Way Test essay contest. Fourth graders from Jackson County Schools took part in a literacy contest inspired by “I Write My Story” and wrote essays about how they could use the Four Way Test in their lives. The top three winners spoke at our meeting this week about the Four-Way Test. First place was Addison Blankenship from Smoky Mountain Elementary; second place was Angus Despeaux from Cullowhee Valley Schools, and third place was Joseph Friddle also from Cullowhee Valley School. Very powerful and inspirational message from young students on the importance of the Four Way Test.

2019-03-21: Jackson County Public Works – Thank You

March 21st, 2019 by Scott Baker

It was great to welcome some of the staff from the Jackson County Public Works Department to our meeting today. Our club thanked them for their help with the installation for our Flags for Heroes flags. Each individual received a certificate for their work in helping our club with this important fundraiser. This fundraiser would not be possible without their help.

The Flags for Heroes first event is scheduled for Memorial Day this year so please let us know if you would like to adopt a flag in honor of someone you know. Flags will be flown 3 times this year including Memorial Day, 4th of July (Mark Watson Park), and Veterans Day.
